A comparative evaluation of automated recession extraction methods to determine the late-time recession characteristics of karst spring hydrographs

Recession Curve Analysis is a common method to characterize karstic aquifers and their discharge dynamics. Although this technique provides crucial information on quantifying system hydrodynamic properties, the manually selected recession curves analysis neither practical cover all candidate curves, nor it allows extracting entire hydrological diversity of behavior. This study aimed comparatively evaluate applicability automated selection procedures late-time karst spring hydrograph. For comparative evaluation three extraction methods (Vogel Method, Brutsaert Aksoy Wittenberg Method), we quantified parameters hydrographs by combining with four (Maillet, 1905; Boussinesq, 1904; Coutagne, 1948; Wittenberg, 1999). By applying our experimental design into five springs located in Austria, identified possible weaknesses for hydrographs. To explore value spring’s physicochemical data (electrical conductivity water temperature) as completion curve analysis, carried out hydro-chemograph examine time its duration.
